Often times, when looking for a afternoon snack, people reach for chips, salty crackers, French fries, and other foods that make your taste buds thirst. Because these foods are salty, you eat more of them than you would with something like a piece of fruit. Here are 3 heathy snacks that will fill you up, and keep you healthy.
1. Fresh apples dipped in caramel dip. It's autumn now so why not go apple picking with your friends or family! It's a fun way to get outside and your gaining a healthy snack from it as well. The caramel dip you can find at any super market near the apples, usually!
2. Bananas dipped in peanut butter. This is a good snack for any time or day because you are getting the serving of fruit but you are also gaining protein which will fill you up and keep your energized longer.
3. Greek yogurt and granola. Greek yogurt can be very bitter tasting all by itself so add some granola to the mix. You will have a filling snack and tons of protein!
After last season's hit Madonna episode, Glee's decided to do another tribute--this time to Brittany Spears. The glee clubbers will be performing many of Brittany's hits including "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and "Toxic." This will also be the first episode in which John Stamos will be guest starring.
Check out the preview below:
Glee will also be doing a tribute to Rocky Horror Picture Show in an upcoming episode.
I'm a huge fan of Zooey Deschanel and (500) Days of Summer has been one of my favorite movies ever since it came out the summer of 2009. I knew the second that movie ended that I had to get the soundtrack and it's still one of the soundtracks I listen to the most today.
Now you can check out the music of Lil Wayne mixed with the the (500) days of Summer soundtrack: made by twitter user @mysickuncle, who calls it ""This is not a mashup album, this is an album about Wayne."
Check out the soundtrack here: if you like both Lil Wayne and (500) Days of Summer. My favorite Mashups are Us (Me and Mr. Officer), Here Comes Your Milli, Sweet Stunt Positions and Quelqu'un m'a dit We Outta Here Baby.
One of my favorite parts of the internet of today is YouTube. Video blogging has become the latest and greatest way to talk about everything from guitar strings to make-up. Obviously, being a writer for Sarah Scoop, I enjoy watching the beauty guru’s the most. They speak of everything from fashion to hair, make-up to their favorite tanning lotions. I have a long list of favorites so I decided to split them up into all-time favorite beauty guru videos of all time!
Starting with hair, this guru (MissVanityVixen on YouTube) has made the best Taylor Swift hair tutorial I have ever watched! She kind-of looks like Taylor herself. Ever since watching this video, the way I curl my hair and my results have changed for the better.
Next with make-up, I will always remember Blair’s (juicystar07) rainbow eye tutorial. She uses the most pigmented eye shadows in this video that I went out and got myself. Not that I wear rainbow eye shadow but the brands she mentions are awesome. Blair is one of the most renowned gurus on YouTube along with her sister, Elle (AllthatGlitters21).
The next guru that I am in love with is Megan (meganheartsmakeup). Girl knows how to dress! I love watching her haul videos. If you do not know what a haul is it is when girls basically show off everything they have bought that day or that month, etc. Megan also has really simple hair and make-up videos for the average girl who is not a make-up professional.
I believe all of these gurus have Twitter accounts and blogs so even if they're not filming, they still connect to their fans all over the world. Thank goodness for the internet!
Those are my personal favorites. Check out their channels and you will be hooked!
Fall has a new look and it involves a little black eye liner and some patience. In Allure's recent magazine with the lovely Kim Kardashian on the cover showcases the importance of the feline.
The cat eye look can be achieve very quickly and will spice up any outfit. Here are the tools you need to achieve the look:
Maybelline has a great gel eyeliner that comes with a small brush. It goes on smoothly and stays for a long time.
Kat Von D the tattoo artist has come out with make-up line sold at Sephora. It keeps your eye shadow and liner from smudging.
I recently got a chance to see the new movie Catfish (which premieres this Friday in select theaters) at an advanced screening on Tuesday.
First of all, don’t judge this movie like the trailer. It’s nothing like it. My friends and I thought it was going to be a scary movie, and it’s not.
The movie documents Nev’s relationship with a family that he met on Facebook. Nev first contacts them when a little girl, Abby, sends him a painting of one of his photos of dancers.
From there, Abby’s mom, Angela, continues to send Nev lots of paintings of Abby’s and they have frequent phone calls about Abby’s work and all the galleries she has art work at. Nev also develops a relationship with Angela’s other daughter, Megan, and the two of them have sort of a long distance relationship.
Don’t read on if you don’t want to be spoiled at all.
But then, things start to not line up right. The galleries Abby’s art is supposed to be in are abandoned warehouses and the song’s Meg sends Nev sound eerily like recordings found on Youtube.
So Nev and his friends decide to head to Michigan where the family lives to discover what this Facebook family is really all about.
I really enjoyed this movie, despite the fact that the trailer is very misleading.
Famous for nothing? Think again! Kim Kardashian not only has a hit reality show but she is absolutely a fashion icon this year. With her dark chocolate hair parted down the middle, she always knows how to step out of her house in a style that, through the past couple years, has been made her own. Even though she is ultra-curvy, she knows how to flaunt her curves and be sexy, while, at the same time covering up to be a role model for women.
She is commonly seen on the red carpet in one-shoulder dresses and smoked-out eye make-up.
As for the average day, she typically rocks the “business-chic” look with blazers and skinny jeans. A lot of times, she adds a fun accessory like some heels or a clutch to complete the look or make it more fancy!
Kim Kardashian is definitely the 2010 contender for fashion icon.
The new trend for Fall is pink 'just been pinched' cheeks. So ladies I was trying to find a reasonable priced blush for the thrifty and fashionable lady out there. I purchase a lot from Sephora as you can see in past articles but you have to save money somewhere. I walked into my local drugstore and saw that Maybelline has a cream blush in an array of colors. If you don't like a little sparkle than this blush is not for you, but if you want a pinch of color on your cheeks for under $8 than go get one now. I was always iffy with cream blush because I d not have the best skin in the world but its very light and go to a department store and ask questions before purchasing. That was I love Sephora because they always have the best answers.
Let's get started in how to apply: 1. Make sure that you skin is moisturized and hydrated. 2. I apply to the apples of my cheeks so I make a BIG smile and apply upward toward the temples. 3. Set with a powder and enjoy the 'I just ran a mile' look or 'saw a hot guy' look.
While Jennings still holds his title for most days spent on Jeopardy, he no longer holds the record for most won on a single day. That title now belongs to Roger Craig, who won $77,000 during September 14th episode of Jeopardy, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Craig, a graduate student at University of Delaware, now has a two-day total of $114,000. While that’s nowhere near Jennings total of $2.52 million, who knows what Craig could accomplish if he manages to stay on the show and break some more of Jennings seemingly impossible records.
Do you think Craig has a shot at breaking Jenning’s total record?
Every time the red carpet rolls out lately, the first person I hope to see is Selena Gomez. She always looks completely put together; hair, make-up, accessories, and of course her dresses. She often wears white, which is a great contrast with the bright red carpet and her dark features. My favorite dress she has been photographed in was the white dress she wore on the 2010 Teen Choice Awards red carpet.
As you can see from this picture, she has a matching white clutch and her hair is messy, yet tame. Her make-up also looks stunning and makes her brown eyes truly pop.
My second favorite dress that I have seen her wear is the lilac colored one-shoulder dress she wore to the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. This dress is very sophisticated yet fun with the light purple color! It is very Kim Kardashian inspired, I would say, and with her hair pulled back, it gives her a very natural look to her make-up.
Selena is the first fashion icon of Disney Channel stars that I have seen in a while. (Unless you count Miley Cyrus, who often ends up on the WORST dressed list…)
Even at the 2010 VMA's the cast of Jersey Shore was asked "who are you most excited to see tonight?" Both Sammi "Sweetheart" and Vinny answered "I'm excited to see Selena Gomez!" Vinny even added a "is she 18 yet?"
If you’ve spent your summer watching reruns and reality TV and have hated it (I know I have), the long wait is over.
Monday brings premieres of your favorite shows on all three major networks, including How I Met Your Mother, House, Chuck, Two and A Half Men and Rules of Engagement.
Glee (my favorite!), NCIS, Biggest Loser and Dancing With The Stars all premiere Tuesday.
Wednesday is filled with lots of new shows, including Undercovers, Better With You, and The Middle as well as premieres of Cougar Town and Modern Family.
On Thursday, catch the premieres of The Big Bang Theory (another one of my favorites). The Office, Community, CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, $#*! My Dad Says and 30 Rock.
What fall premiere are you most looking forward to?
Curly-haired (and wavy-haired) girls sometimes have it the worst. There’s so much pressure to straighten your hair (using both irons and chemicals), but it can be so drying and damaging to your hair.
Although some heat protectants may help, sometimes the best thing to do is just to leave your hair natural. If you’ve tried this before and just ended up with a frizzy mess, here’s some personal tips I use after I damaged my hair too much (and I mean it’s a disaster) after a much failed chemical straightener:
1. Check out the Curly-Girl Handbook: This book will detail everything you need include using no-shampoo washing as well as sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. While I don’t follow this method religiously, I try to use sulfate-free shampoos as much as possible (I recently bought Sally’s Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner) and I’ll often only use deep conditioner when I shower to refresh my hair. When I get done at the pool (or if I’m feeling extra greasy), however, I’ll use a slighter harsher shampoo (chlorine is nasty for your hair) on my scalp only. Also note—your hair may feel really greasy when you first try this out, but it’ll adjust to less washing. I haven’t really felt any effects because hair was so dry and damaged.
2. Invest in a good deep conditioner and protein mask: I’m currently in love with Aussie’s Three Minute Conditioner as well as Brazilian Tech Keratin Smoothing Treatment.
3. A leave-in conditioner couldn’t hurt-I use a keratin spray and well as Argan oil. Just remember that curly hair craves as much moisture as possible
4. Find a styling product that your hair likes: It’s taken me forever to find a gel that didn’t make my hair too crunchy or weigh my hair down too much, but it’s up to you to find the best product to use. I currently use SurfHead Styling Wax.
If you’re a poor college student like me (or just on a budget), dying your own hair can be the perfect solution to expensive salon costs. In fact it’s quite easy to dye your own hair at home for under $20!
Although it can be a bit scary (no one wants to end up with orange hair), there are some ways to make the process as simple (and stress free!) as possible.
1.Do some research: Figure out what type of hair dye you want to use (such as temporary, semi-permanent, demi-permanent, or permanent) and what shade you would like. Remember—hair dye will only lighten natural hair color (not dyed color). Unless you’re really experience, I’d leave bleach to the professionals. If it’s your fist time dying your hair, you may want to pick out a semi or demi-permanent color that will eventually rinse out.
2. Go to Sally’s Beauty Supply: For the best looking dye job, pick up some professional hair dye from Sally’s, and read the instructions on the box carefully as to what else you might need, such as a developer (and what strength developer). If you have a question, the girls at Sally’s are usually quite helpful.
3. Make sure you have all the necessary tools: I would either pick up a bottle applicator (my favorite way to apply it if I’m working all by myself) or a bowl and brush applicator as well as some gloves.
4. Read the Directions: Follow all the directions on the box about skin tests and strand tests as well as about how long to leave dye on your head, especially if this is your first time dying your hair.
5. Grab a friend: If this is your first time dying your hair, I’d grab a friend to help you apply the dye and make sure you get all of you hair covered—including the back and the roots.
6. Have fun!: I’ve dyed my hair some wild colors over the past two years I’ve been dying it myself that I don’t think I’d have the courage to ask for in a salon.
This week, after a few days of back to school shopping, I realized that I forgot to get new accesories! I know that they are not always a must have but at American Eagle Outfitters I found the cutest jewelery! Usually I keep the same, boring, silver studs in my ears at all times but I decided I should spice it up this fall with some new earrings. I got the cutest purple flower studs, over-sized gold studs, and a earring tray with three different pairs for people who have multiple piercings! I bought a lot of purple, golds, and browns for fall so I am very excited to give these outfits an extra kick with some new jewelery! American Eagle also had a lot of necklaces and bracelets to go with the earrings to make a complete jewelery set! This fashion find was an exciting way to add something extra to my fall wardrobe.
Everyone can remember last year when Kanye West dissed Taylor Swift at the MTV VMA’s last year, but hardly anyone would’ve expected an apology to the public for his actions, especially a year later. But Kanye seems to be bent on making amends for his actions, according to People Magazine.
At the 2009 VMA’s, Kanye hopped on stage during Swift’s acceptance speech, and said, “"Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'm going to let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time, one of the best of all time!"
Kanye has now offered a range of apologies on his Twitter account, saying: “With new found humility ... who am I to run on stage? I would never ever again in a million years do that. Sorry to let you down,” and “It is distasteful to cut people off as a general rule. What's the point of dressing tastefully if I'm going to act the complete opposite?”.
His most recent tweets include the follow statement (broken into three tweets): “I want to win there hearts back so I can continue to bring my take on culture to the masses with a clean opinion.” “It starts with this...” “I’m sorry Taylor.”
Yes, online you can find anything you want at any size you want but in-store shopping allows you to feel the material and truly find your size in person. I love the thrill of shopping online, however there are those times when you receive your purchase in the mail, you get so excited to finally receive it after days of waiting, and it's complete cheap material, its too big or too small, and the color is not what you expected. Plus, with shopping online, you usually have to pay for shipping unless you have a pricy order. Not worth it. In my opinion, just go to the store. A lot of times big department stores have in-store only sales! Bonus! The only store that I think is worth the thrill of shopping online is forever21. Simply because it is cheap so if you get something that's not right, it's not that big of a deal to send it back. Plus shopping there in person is just too hectic sometimes! Basically, shopping in the store itself is a better idea if you want to get new clothes that are nice quality without the wait, the possible disappointment or the price!
Lea Michele, lead actress on the hit TV series Glee, can be quite the diva just like her character, according to E! Online.
At the Times 100 Gala Michele made out with her boyfriend, Theo Stockman, and reportedly snapped at photographer Patrick McMullan for taking her picture and then asking for her name. She told him she was Sarah Palin and then Taylor Swift.
Most recently, according to E! Michele spent the Emmy’s making out with her boyfriend as well, and was quite rude to her fans. A couple of people approached her table, but her personal bodyguard (Michele was one of the very few people with a personal bodyguard there) stopped them. Michele told the bodyguard that she did not know them, and returned to making out with her boyfriend. Fans paid upwards of $1000 to attend the event.
However her representatives are apparently to fix her Diva image, according to E!, with a cat-rescuing stunt as well as a Glamour Q & A that makes her seem like an angel.
According to People, despite having a child at a young age, Bristol Palin says she’ll have the most modest outfits on this season of Dancing with the Stars.
“I think I will be the most dressed [contestant and have] the most modest outfits for sure because that’s who I am,” she told PEOPLE. Palin says she wants to set a good example for her son, Tripp, who is 20 months old and loves dancing around.
Palin joins Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Audrina Patridge, and Jennifer Gray.
It comes to that time in your life when you’re the big man on campus. Senior year. Depending on your previous experience in high school or college, some love it, and some hate it. Personally, I am loving my senior year so far, but even though its only day three, I have already been hearing complaints from fellow classmates about homework, the long days in the warm building, and underclassmen clogging the hallways. Yes I, too want to get the year done and move onto bigger and better things but grades are still important at this time of year. If you do not pass, you do not graduate. End of story.
There are however some tips to succeeding in senior year even if you are suffering from bad senioritis.
Step 1: Keep focused. Do not sleep during class! Keep your eyes on the board and your ears open. Listen to the teacher as if she or he is reading a story aloud to the class. It kept our focus when we were little, right?
Step 2: Make friends with the underclassmen! I know I have some great friends who are not necessarily my own age. I loved when I was friends with the older kids freshmen and sophomore year. You get more in tune with the school and you feel relived that seniors are not really that big and scary. You are only a few years older than the younger ones, so be nice and by the end of the year, who knows? Maybe you won’t want to leave behind your new friends and will actually be sad to see the year go by.
Step 3 (A tip for all students!): Be involved in the school! School spirit is becoming a huge thing in my school this year. Get out to the football and basketball games with your friends! Wear your class colors to pep-rallies and school events! Go to the dances! Your 4 years in high school or college will go by faster than you think and by being sluggish and uninvolved, your senioritis will get the best of you and all of a sudden you will be in the real world with no energy to want to do anything. Remember that being lazy can be changed if you try; if you don’t, laziness will embed in you and it will be hard to snap out of it when you need to. If you want the year to go by fast, being involved will help that! If you get excited for events time will pass quicker and soon enough you will have your diploma! (Which is the ultimate goal, correct?)
So no matter if you are in high school or college, do not fall under the senioritis spell. Enjoy every minute of your last year and be excited about being a senior opposed to thinking “ugh I just want to be done with school.” You will get nowhere with that attitude! Stay positive and energized, that’s all!
According to E! Online Kris Jenner wasn’t necessarily Kim Kardashian’s first choice for her date to the Emmys, instead it was most likely Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin.
Although Kim wouldn’t give Austin’s name, she did say, "The person I wanted to bring has a job and is a little busy." When asked if she was referring to Austin, Kim only said “You can use your imagination.” Austin had a game in Houston the night before the Emmys and had another game later this week in Miami.
Although Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez just got engaged a few months ago, Ali is eagerly planning their wedding, which will probably be on T.V. Recently Ali has made the exciting decision of who she is going to get her dress from. She told US Magazine that the lucky designer will be...Monique Lhuillier! Ali stated that she loved the flowiness of her dresses.
"If it does work out that way Ali and Roberto will be follow the exact same footsteps as fellow Bachelor Jason Mesnick and his new wife Molly Mesnick. Molly ironically wore a Monique Lhuillier dress at her wedding. I think I'm seeing a trend ABC."
At was at my favorite store Sephora again. So if you cannot find me one day just pop you head in Sephora. I was on a mission to find eye shadow that did not melt off my face. You know what I means ladies, right? You put on your favorite eye shadow and your dancing and having fun and than you take a minute to check your make-up----its is not where you applied it. It happens too often and I think that it needs to stop. Well, my Sephora friends found me an eye shadow that is water proof, mistake proof, sheer yet sparkly and does not budge. It is Buxom 'Stay-there Eye Shadow.' The product is by Bare Escentuals for their line Buxom. All the products in Buxom are awesome but these eyes shadows rock! They have an assortment of colors from work to fun. Plus you do not need a brush to apply it just use that finger your mother gave you. Lets check out the colors:
What makes this line of eye shadows fun is they are all named after our 'furry four-legged' friends. I have the purple 'Schnauzer' and taupe 'Mutt.' They are great alone or together. They blend so well and are light you do not even feel like its on you.
Picture 1 Schnauzer
Picture 2 Mutt
My next addition to my collection will be 'Pug' a smoky pewter and "Golden Retriever' a copper red. The next part of this line might just melt your heart and make you buy the entire collection. Part of the proceeds will be going to "Canine Companions for Independence a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs." No sulfates or parabens. Nothing that will irritate your eye. I am a contact wearer so I have to be very careful when putting make-up near my eyes. They retail for $17 but remember if you sign up with the 'Beauty Insider' you get good deals and freebies. Check out Sephora or on-line if you do not have one close to you. You will not regret it. Let me know what you think? look for the next Beauty Scoop: Diorshow Mascara or another fun product.
We were all in shock when Heidi Montag stayed with Spencer. Then they actually got married. We thought that was it until Heidi decided that she needed to get the perfect-barbie-doll body. In disgust we all shunned away from Speidi. Now that they are getting a divorce, it seems like Heidi may be coming to her senses - at least a little bit. Heidi is taking her G-cup breasts- which she once declared she wished were a H for Heidi - and reducing them to a normal D-cup. AH, Heidi what has gotten into you? She stated that they have ruined her life, she can no longer go jogging, hug her friends, or walk her dog. She finally realized that the body she always wanted was not the perfect body. I feel sad for her because she seems so lost, but I am glad that she learned this lesson, and when you are from Hollywood you have enough money to change yourself 6 times in your life if you want. Maybe this is going to be a new breakthrough for Heidi.
