Galliano Gone & Our Intern Juliann Is Furious

"I'm furious, if you want to know. I'm furious that it could happen, because the question is no longer even whether he said it. The image has gone around the world. It's a horrible image for fashion, because they think that every designer and everything in fashion is like this." Karl Lagerfeld said in regards to the news of fashion designer John Galliano making anti-semitic remarks on video while clearly intoxicated in Paris. The fashion industry has been turned upside down by the "I Love Hitler" designer, who to most is considered a genius in the fashion world.
Natalie Portman, a face for Christian Dior Parfumes, issued a statement including comments such as, "shocked and disgusted." Portman, who is proud to be Jewish no longer wishes to associate herself with Galliano in any way; however, she made no comment regarding Dior.
However, the real question is do you think Galliano deserves all the backlash for a comment made while under the influence? It is indeed a shame that such a reknown designer is being kicked out by the fashion industry for a comment that insulted an entire group of people. Yet does the fashion industry have to suffer the consequence of being associated with a designer known for his creativity verses his drunken comments? What do you think?
