The Real Housewives of DC Review
Kim, Television 4:01 PM
Bravo TV certainly churns out some quality television. If by quality, you mean deliciously trashy reality tv. I myself have to admit that I am a fan of the Real Housewives series, and so I didn’t miss the premiere of the Real Housewives of DC on Thursday night. My thoughts? We’re in for a long season.
The very politically trashy show, perfect for the brainy girl who likes to indulge her reality tv craving every once in a while, features five women living in DC. Stacie, Michaele, Mary, Cat, and Lynda could not be more different, and again, as with the other Housewives’ series, we’re left wondering how on Earth they could be friends and why they would voluntarily hang out with each other. (Oh right, because they don’t. Those producers, at it again…)
Stacie is a successful real estate agent with a husband and two kids and a whole lot of opinions about everything and what she believes to be right and wrong. Mary, a mother of five, totes around the entitlement that she used to play at the Kennedy house when she was a kid and has fingerprint-security to access her closet. Cat, hailing from Britain, has a powerful White House photographer husband and an offputting attachment/loyalty to former president George W. Bush that already has caused rifts between her and the other women. Lynda has four kids and a beautiful black boyfriend, who I’m sorry, looks gay. And I’m not even talking about her gay boyfriend, Paul, who leaks to Michaele, the thin, social-butterfly/whore, that Lynda finds her much too thin. Aye aye aye, it’s only the first episode and we’re already set up for tons of drama this season. Are you ready for it? Will you watch?
