Will Zac Efron Ever Be Allowed to Grow Up?
Probably not.
Ever since High School Musical 3 was released, Zac Efron has been trying to shy away from his squeaky-clean Disney image to make himself seem more mature than his former costars by taking on more mature roles.
For instance, New York Magazine is calling Charlie St. Cloud (in theaters this Friday) Efron’s first grown up movie because it lacks any singing or dancing.
Still, like Miley, Efron can’t escape the fact that the public wants him to retain his Disney image.
The New York Post released a story saying that Efron and High School Musical co-star Corbin Bleu blew $2,000 on strippers (who looked like Efron’s girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens) and vodka, which made Efron look bad, despite the fact he is a grown man at 22 years old.
But was this planned? New York Magazine says it may have been a plan Efron’s publisists had to go along with the release of his first grown up movie, in an attempt to make him look more like a bad boy.
